Margurite Duras was born in 1914, my mother, Marjorie Gingell was born in 1918. They were both petite and in their old age wore the same kind of peaked cap and dark rimmed glasses. One day when I was collecting images of MD in my scrap book, I came across this photo.
It seemed so familiar, as if it had come from my own family photo album. I went searching again in the suitcase of photos I collected for safekeeping when my mother moved into a nursing home, and found this one of my mother Marjorie.
Same lips, same forehead, same tristesse...
I went searching for more.
Same ribbon in their hair...
Same hat...
It doesn't stop there.
